On 21 October 2020 Southern California Edison (SCE) honored ETIC with its 2020 Contractor Safety Management Award. This industry-recognized honor, awarded annually to one company, recognizes ETIC for its outstanding safety performance during a large-scale environmental remediation project at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station on the U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.
The Contractor Safety Management Award honors a contractor and project that exemplify SCE’s commitment to safety during the year. ETIC is proud to have earned this recognition during a challenging year that included planning and managing work under COVID‑19 restrictions. Unique project elements included:
- Creative planning and modeling to develop excavation stability measures in the presence of active utilities.
- Developing safe methods for gathering data from deep excavations without personnel or equipment entry.
The award was presented to ETIC during SCE’s Annual Contractor Safety Management Forum, hosted by SCE’s Environmental Services Department. For the virtual 2020 forum, participants included SCE’s Vice President of Safety and Security, and SCE contractors and procurement personnel.
